Mzansi has been left in stitches after three of the country’s most iconic sports heroes - Siya Kolisi, Eben Etzebeth and Dricus du Plessis showed off their acting skills in a comedic online video.

With peak travel season in full gear, the sports heroes joined forces with their comedic prowess in an advert titled “Breaking Free” for South African accommodation booking app, LekkeSlaap.

The ad which has since gone viral, depicts the athletes caught in a fictional disciplinary hearing after repeatedly sneaking out of their training camp to indulge in the comforts of LekkeSlaap accommodations.

Packed with clever humour and South African charm, the ad highlights the universal appeal of local travel — even for the nation’s top athletes.

Commenting on the ad, Gerriline Fouché, LekkeSlaap’s chief marketing officer, said their goal was to blend South Africa’s love for travel with its love for sports and humour.

“Having Kolisi, Etzebeth, and Du Plessis on board brought the concept to life in a way that’s both entertaining and authentic to our audience,” said Fouché.
